Values, emotions, conducts and dominant
social structures from a culture are expressed by art. The Mariachi
has characteristics that have resisted a generalized use, found
an echo and an answer in the people to such a degree that even
when they have been subject to different changes, they still
continue to be one of the most expressive symbols of being Mexican.
The Mariachi originated in Cocula, Jalisco because there
was not another town in the south of Jalisco where the indigenous
people had such a desire for music; In fact in Cocula they
use to build special Jacalones to practice autochthonous rhythms
dedicated to their God Cocolli. Getting into the history of
the Mariachi Plata, I will let you know that
this would not have been possible if one day on January 1936
in Tarimoro City, Guanajuato ( state that gave birth to the
pillar of Mexican music and a great composer José Alfredo
Jiménez ) was the date on which the director of the
Mariachi Plata was born. Whom following the
taste for music from his father José Rojas, made a
career in México City that many consider being the
greatest school for Mariachi, “Plaza Garibaldi”.
He took and made music his working tool and presentation card
motivated by the spirit of self growth that took him to form
the first Mariachi Plata in México
City. On that time he played with the now Director of the
Mariachi Vargas de Tecatitlán, Mr. Federico Torres,
the now director of the Mariachi América Mr Jesús
Rodríguez de Hijar and so many others. During that
time he had the opportunity to go on tour to different parts
of the world Germany, Japan, Paris, Rome, Arab Emirates, Dubai,
Brasil, to mention a few. The Mariachi Plata
has been distinguished for having the fortune of having some
of the best artists in its music field.
After many years on tour the Mariachi Plata
came on holiday to the city of Cancun. After spending some
time and seeing how wonderful this was, they took the decision
of making it their home. They restructured the Mariachi
Plata and from being 6 members in the Mariachi it
comes to a total of 12. Which is the number of people that
are right now in the Mariachi counting with a great repertoire
ready for any occasion. The Mariachi Plata
has been conformed from elements that have worked in different
recognized groups. Here in Cancun, it has given fruits and
have worked with different personalities like Pandora, Dulce,
Pablo Milanes, Placido Domingo, Jose Angel “ El Cuervo”
and so many more. We are based on punctuality, study and respect
for our work.
On the other hand the Mariachi Plata has
been recognized by Companies, Foundations, T.V. Networks,
Radio Shows, which keeps us motivated to realize our work
with so much heart, so we will always be here to serve you.
